Universal Excel Import for TallyPrime - Masters & Transactions

Most businesses already have their data in Excel: purchase registers, sales reports, bank statements, data from other software. Typing it into Tally takes hours, and most import tools only accept a fixed Excel layout, so the file has to be rearranged before it can be imported.

What this add-on does

Universal Excel Import lets you import any Excel format into Tally. You do not need to change your file. You tell the add-on which column holds which detail, save it as a template, and use that template every time a file in the same format comes in.

• Template management: create, edit and disable templates for each Excel format you receive
• Column mapping: pick a sample file and the add-on reads its column titles, then map each column to a Tally field such as voucher number, date, party, GSTIN, rate, tax or round off
• Flexible Dr/Cr handling: set each amount column to Auto, Debit, Credit, infer from the voucher type, or decide by the sign of the value
• Multi-row vouchers: rows with the same invoice number are combined into one voucher, so invoices with several tax rates are imported correctly
• Master mapping and auto-creation: before importing, see which parties and ledgers are new, map Excel names to your existing Tally ledgers, and create missing ones under the group you choose
• Duplicate control: switch on duplicate checking for a template so the same voucher is not imported twice
• Import status report: after each import, see the ledgers, stock items and vouchers created, with the status of every voucher
• User access control: decide which Tally users can create templates, run imports and view import history

How it works in Tally

Go to Gateway of Tally > Excel Importer. Under Excel Templates, create a template: give it a name, choose the table type, select a sample Excel file and sheet, and map each column to a Tally field. Under Import, select the template, the Excel file and the sheet, then confirm. The add-on shows the new masters for you to map or create, imports the vouchers, and shows the import status report.
